Convert FAT32 ASZ to NTFS??
Hello
Is it possible to convert the logical partition within the extended partition TI creates for ASZ to NTFS?
I have an external 200GB drive which is formatted as NTFS but TI creates the ASZ as FAT32....Why?
I have been using TI since version 8 and I love the software but never really used some of the extended features. I just upgraded to Home 2010 and want to have a better method to my backups.
Let me know if this is possible on converting the ASZ partition...
Thanks

OK..Cool. Thanks for your response. I figured as much. I was just testing the ASZ feature. I may just go back to a folder on the external drives primary NTFS volume and do away with ASZ, like I was doing before..

Although the secure zone is not a backup panacea, to me, it is very well worth having. I do not use it as the sole means of backup, as you absolutely want an independent media copy, but it is still quite useful.
The majority of things that may corrupt your primary volume, may not necessarily be the death of the drive physically. As I take my main system (notebook) on the road, having a built-in means of total recovery (of course, short of an actual phsical disk failure), makes good sense.
ASZ may not be needed or practical for everybody, but it actually can be an excellent adjutant to your backup policy.

Indeed, msot of the times that I have restored, it's because of software wonks and not hardware wonks. Still, in exchange for having backups handily on the same hdisk as the one backed up, you risk the probs that some folks, not all folks, have with the SZ partition. Given it's limited utility and potential probs, I recommend folks just skip it and use a second or external drive, which usually takes no longer than a few seconds to grab and connect. As a military officer's assistant, it's rather a weak staffer -- not without uses, but it can give an inflated sense of security while you can get pocketsized external drives with lots of volume and heaper than ever these days.
