Convert VHD file to TIB and restore computer

Thread needs solution

I have a machine that had the hard drive imaged by using a physical to virtual converter. I would like to convert the vhd file to a TIB file so I can restore the computer. I was mistakenly told that it was ok to wipe the machine but now I find out that they need it restored. Is there a way to do this? I have Acroniis 13 and will upgrade if necessary.

Thanks!!

Gary,

Under the utilities tab you can convert the VHD to a tib file, TI 2013 will also convert the VHD to a tib file if you select 'restore', it will then convert the VHD to the tib file followed by a restore. There is a possibly problem though, as TI didn't make the original VHD in this case, you might find the MBR information is missing, but you won't know until you try a restore.

Hello Mario,

If I understand correctly, you want to convert the existing VHDX file to a TIB archive to be able to restore it and clone for the further use, right?

Acronis True Image 2019 only supports conversion of backups (.tib archives) to VHD\VHDX, there is no backward conversion in the current product version. However, you may want trying to mount the VHD drive in Disk Management  or run as a virtual machine, and then create a backup of it.
