Converting HD to SSD; BSOD after using Recovery to "clone" HD
Acronis 2014; Win 7 Pro. I followed all the instructions in the program to use the Recovery method to transfer my 500 gb HD to a new Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB SSD but I get a BSOD. Also get MBR error 3; turned off F11 boot recovery feature but still no luck. Windows begins but crashes to the BSOD, then goes to "Windows did not start properly last time" screen. (BTW I don't have Win install disk because it came preloaded onto my computer.)

Hi Charles,
You are using Acronis 2014... not sure what build #
You are attempting to migrate a windows 7 install to a SSD drive
You've attempted to "use the recovery method" - Not exactly sure what this means?
And have also tried to restore a back up of the source drives partitions to the new disk unsuccessfully.
Have you tried "cloning"? If so, what were the steps you performed. Telling us you used the forum for steps is not enough information for us to assist you since we don't know what task you attempted to perform or what might have happened.
Your errors appears to indicate a problem with the disks boot sector. Having a windows 7 install DVD is often helpful to troubleshoot and/or repair these types of issues.
Do you have a product key for your "pre0installed" windows?
You might be able to download an image here:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery
You will need to enter your product key and if OEM, this may not work.
Digital River appears to be down or retired. Can you borrow a disk from a from a friend. Commands you may want to try from the command prompt are:
Bootrec.exe /FixMbr
Bootrec.exe /FixBoot
Are you using Acronis Boot Media or attempting to perform these tasks using the installed version of ATIH?
If you'd like further assistance, we will need more information about your hardware, version of windows and the install.

I used Acronis Boot Media to recover (i.e. put the system, data, programs etc.) onto the SSD. I followed the instructions from the ATIH help file and from a link in a forum post that instructed users to install each partition one at a time. Both failed.
Computer Specs: W7 Pro SP 1; AMD Athlon II X4 620 2.60 GHz, 8GB RAM, 64 bit OS, HP Pavilion p6270z.
ATIH 2014 build 6673.
I don't know anyone to borrow a W7 DVD from. There is an MS W7 OEM sticker on the side of the computer case.

The link http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery did not work: "Server Error 502-Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server."
I did try cloning but it did not work due to bad sectors on the HDD, which chkdsk /f and Partition Guru could not fix. (One reason I want to migrate to SSD is that my HDD--WD 5000 500GB SCSI--might be failing.) I also tried using ATIH under W7, but that didn't work either.
Display: AMD Radeon HD6570; Seagate GoFlex Desk 1TB USB external HD for backup.
