Copy external HD To New HD
Hi, my Dell told me that my Hard Drive is about to die. So I bought Acronis Home Image 2011 and cloned my internal HD to a USB external HD. I've now bought a new internal HD and want to recover the original information from the external HD onto the new internal HD. My goal is to have the exact copy on my new internal HD as I had on my old internal HD.
When I boot, I get a message "no boot sector on USB device". How should I proceed?
It worked! I should have made a bootable disk with Acronis loaded on it when I made the clone copy. However, I was able to re-install the old Hard Drive, make a bootable disk with Acronis on it. Then I re-installed the new internal HD, booted from the boot disk and the Acronis program on. Acronis loaded first think and then allowed me to make a clone of the external USB HD onto the new blank internal HD. And here I am working from that new internal drive, having accomplished exactly what I wanted, which was to have the exact same configuration as I had on my old, failing disk. Yah!
