Crash by msvcr80.dll by mounting attempt TI WD Edition Build 14.189 Win 8.1 and 10

Thread needs solution

May be there is no solution because I use an old version normally with Win 7.

But also works with 8.1 and 10.

But not trying to mount a backup.

I did not find this file (MS runtime) in system32, only in WinSxS and in the directory of a vodafone software.

Perhaps download and install other /new runtime library from MS / C++ or repair ?? Or accept this problem ??

No idea.  Honestly, it's hard to say seeing as how Windows 10 keeps pumping out new major versions which make changes to security and baseline files under the hood that were not available 5-6 years ago with 2014.

Googling the crashing of that .dll though, there seem to be many reasons for this, and none related specifically to Acronis.  I'd recommend running SFC /Scannow at least twice and then also checking DISM for repair options.  Make sure you have a backup first!

This does not work !

Curious, months ago, everything was fine and works, but now only backup and recovery works,

but mouting is out,

though it is comfortable and important, to get some files out with this method

esp. if the image is on a free media for transportation !

My guess is it's incompatibility - really not sure as your version is from Western Digital (it's a vendor specific version) and quite a bit older - out before current versions of Windows 10 1803 and 1809 by more than a year.

Acronis True Image WD Edition Software

File Size: 405 MB
Version: 2016 WD Edition, Build 33
Release Date: 12/16/2016 | Release Notes

You might want to reach out to WD to see if they have a newer version available.  Or, you can contact Acronis to see about upgrading to a current and full version of the software at a discounted price (you could use the trial of 2019 for 30 days free - although it has some limitations in the trial version - to test it out too).

KB:  2201: Support for OEM Versions of Acronis Products

The options for mounting / browsing Acronis .tib image files is provided via the Windows Shell integration when Acronis is installed.  If this was working and no longer is, then the first step should be to try a Repair Install of your OEM Acronis product.

To do a Repair, simply start installing the software without uninstalling what is already there and this should offer options to either Repair or Uninstall - take the Repair option.
Note: ensure the install is running from an Administrator account to have the necessary authorities & privileges to configure all the program options and integration.

Ok, I use an old version because it worked up to now, here with win 7, but also up to 10,

because I dont like the modern layout.

I see it is the best way to reinstall this, or deinstall and new install to solve perhaps this single problem.

The new version uses msvcr120.dll instead 80.

And works.

But evil design, no options. In 2013 version design is professional,

you can change names, and sector per sector or not and so on. Just as I said. Newer versions for dummies and idiots, so that even a housewife with IQ of 80 can get along. Awful this development you see everywhere !
