still making a purchasing decision based on the need for following:

- need to have a bootable partition on my internal drive that i can select to boot during the boot-time

- need to have complete image of my main partition on the bootable partition

- need to be able to recover this image back into my main partition, while booted into the "recovery" partition

please advise on whether it is altogether possible....if i can try that with a trial version or full product only

True Image can do all of those things, as can Backup & Security Suite. The trial versions are fully functional in windows for 30 days at the moment I think, apart from using the rescue CD to do anything but restore. See here for trial version functionality
