customer just about lost...
I've been a PAYING customer of Acronis True Image backup since v6.
I was forced to purchase v2010 when I upgraded to Windows 7.
It does create backups that I can mostly use to restore whole partitions from the recovery disk (other than the boot sector of SSD's...).
In w7 I cannot get ATI to mount an image in a repeatable manner. Sometimes it works, other times the mounting process hangs forever and I have to kill it.
So here is the deal. Acronis either fixes it soon, or admits the problem with a scheduled fix, or I find an alternative. There are alternatives. And once I find one, I no longer purchase upgrades, or recommend ATI to anyone. I've sold countless copies of ATI over the years, I will contact them all and point them to my alternative.
Others have said this.... I'm saying it too.
My data is too important to trust to ATI in the current sorry state of the pgm.
I just want a reliable back and restore and with each new gui you introduce, with each new wiz-bang feature you make it harder and harder to use in the real world.
The gui of v6 was so easy....

Which build of 2010 are you using?
What problem do you have with SSD boot sectors? Has W7 installed with the 100MB system partition, is that the one you are referring to?
Have you been able to check to see if TIMOUNTER is running in task manager when it hangs?
Do you have any other disk utilities that run in the background?
Are you trying to mount images that are stored externally, on a network or internally.
What size are the tib file(s)
When it works, is this on the same tib file(s) where it doesn't work?
When it hangs do any drive letters appear within Windows Disk Management?
In W7 2010 does take slightly longer to mount an image than XP, but obviously that is not the same as hanging.
I am using the latest build I downloaded yesterday.
Sometimes the same tib file will mount and other times it won't. When it locks up trying to mount, I don't see the drive letters.
The images I want to mount are on my local machine on an internal hard drive. The tib file is 30gb. Sometimes an explorer window opens and a green bar moves across the top of the screen, like progress... when it finally gets to the end, nothing happens, nothing is mounted.
I have an Intel 975 i7 processor with 12gb memory.
I've been googling for other disk imaging software.
