Delete all backup versions without losing settings

Thread needs solution

For each partition I create a full backup and then run incrementals each weekend. Occasionally I want to remove all of the backup versions and start over with a new full backup, but I can't figure out how. If I right-click one of the backups and choose "Delete", it wants to delete the backups AND the settings. "Remove from the list" hides the backup without doing anything to the archive files. "Consolidate versions" isn't right either. True Image also doesn't like it if I go into Windows Explorer and just delete the .tib files.

So how do I get what I want -- purge all of the archives but leave the settings so I can immediately click "Back up now" to create a new full backup? There doesn't seem to be any such option.

You can simply delete/move manually all the backup archive files. The next time ATI will execute the task, it will start with a new full backup

Okay, I guess that works well enough, even though True Image still says there are n versions after I manually delete the files. I'd be more comfortable if such a seemingly desired feature were built in.

Quatrix,

Yes. The "delete version" feature should work. When you delete files manually, you throw the ATI archive database off. The trick is to delete backups that are either full, or entire chains. This is easy to do for more advanced users who are familiar with the product and naming conventions, but it can be tricky for less experienced users as they can compromise backup chains they still rely on...

The database might not reliably find and treat remaining backups the way you expect. In case you find any wonks, best thing is to unload and reload ATI -- if that doesn't update the database correctly, then delete the relevant tasks and create new ones that target empty directories.
