Delete old versions

Thread needs solution

I'm using True Image 2015. I need to delete old versions of my differential backups because my backup drive is full. The documentation states that backup files should not be deleted using windows explorer. It says to use provided tools. I can't find such tool.

Does anyone know how to delete old backup versions of a differential backup? The documentation is useless for this topic.

I had that very same problem myself after upgrading to ATI 2015.
I think the way you are meant to do it is to 'right mouse button click' on the backup you want to delete in the 'My Backup' list and then select 'Delete'.
When I tried to do this ATI 2015 would just hang with a box displayed saying that deletion was occurring but it never completed and I had to reboot my PC.
I finally decided to delete all of my old backups (from the previous version of Acronis) using Windows Explorer. I also deleted the folders that these updates were contained in and, when I created new folders for my new backups I made sure they had a different name. I did this so Acronis would not be confused by some hidden metadata it may find in those old folders.
I had all sorts of problems until I deleted all of my old backups (as described above) and started afresh with ATI 2015.

It would appear that Acronis does not intend for the user to delete any pieces (dif or inc or full) of a completed backup. The only delete funct ion provided in 2015 is to delete ALL backups. This is found in the Operations tab.

Depending upon the type of backup scheme you wish to create, here is an example of each type where automatic cleanup can be set for program to delete older backups which it reaches your preset quota. These can be set up for Disk image, or Partiton, or Files-folders backups. These example show how to set up automatic cleanup so the program will do the deletion after it reaches your set goal of how many chains to retain. Delete by individual not needed. Program will auto-delete the excess.

Editing an existing task is not recommended. Better to start with a new task using a new non-identical task name and point to a new storage sub-folder so each task has it own storage folder/sub-folder.
