Delete Time Explorer Storage Files

Thread needs solution

Hi, I have given up using Acronis True Image 2013 and have uninstalled it. I have tried to delete the Time Explorer Storage files (20GB) without success. These are stored on my Western Digital MyBookLive NAS device. I recently read somewhere that Acronis cannot save Non Stop Backup data to Network drives, but I have 20GB of data files stored there!? I have tried everything to delete these files including using Windows Explorer (as admin), Ubuntu, various Unlocker programs etc. Help! Does anyone have any ideas?

I am running Windows 7 Pro.

I don't know about deleting them from within True Image, but you could certainly delete them from within Windows Explorer.

Assuming you have rights on the NAS, lack of deletion ability could be a simple Windows permissions issue. Google for instructions on how to "take ownership" of files, and once done you could delete.

Hi Tuttle, Thanks for your quick response. Apologies for my slow reply. I had expected an email from the Acronis forum notifying me of any replies!
Windows Explorer did not work. I know how to take ownership of files. That didn't work either. When I tried to take ownership I kept getting messages stating that the file was being used by another process. Hence I tried 4 different file unlockers. I also thought that Ubuntu would crack it but it didn't.

Anyway, today, after seeing your response, I had another shot. Again I failed to take ownership of the files, but this time I installed some Western Digital My Book Live software which permits me to configure network shares. I did not change any WD settings, but this time when I used Windows Explorer to delete the files IT WORKED!!! I deleted 1 file at a time without a single error message!! Was it the WD software? Who knows? Anyway all is now well. All my unwanted NAS files have been deleted.

Thanks again for your help. Apologies again for my slow reply.

Regards,
