Deleting and Cleaning Up Backup Versions in TI 2013

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I know I can safely delete backup version from a file backup by selecting recover and then delete version or chain as shown in

https://forum.acronis.com/system/files/delete-backup-file.jpg

However I do not get the same list for a disk or partition backup. In fact when I select recover I get an error message that says that ' I cannot recover a disk that is stored on the same disk'.

My process is to first automatically perform a backup on the computer harddrive and the manually copy it to an external hard drive that I typically keep in a different location. It is important that I keep a copy of the backup separate from the computer? So how do I clean-up the versions of the computer without corrupting the database?

Thanks for any help

Robert

Whether the bacikup type is files or partition, the link you showed or the link below is the correct location from which to delete old files from a task which is creating ongoing backups or where you wish to maintain the history file integrity. Notice the top left column headers where you can choose whether file or partition. The type of backup file should not matter as the procedure is the same.

GH5. How to delete backup files using Acronis Backup 'Explorer'

All recovery of a partiton is best done when booted from the TI Rescue CD.

The error message would be correct in that you cannot recover a partition or disk if your tib file happens to be residing in the partition or disk where the restore is to occur. When the restore begins, the partition/disk is cleared and its tib contents lost. Perhaps I am not understanding your issue here. A file or folder could be restored to the same partition or disk.

You are aware of the backup option which will create a 2nd backup (full only) to a different location and the user manages how many to keep, etc.

I assume that you are making a copying and the original remains untouched until deleted automatically via either the program or by you using the
manual deleted method described by the two delete examples.
