Deleting backup version

Thread needs solution

This page has instructions for IT 2014 for deleting one version, e.g. the last one:

http://www.acronis.com/en-gb/support/documentation/ATIH2014/index.html#…

They don't apply to TI 2015 - where is the same instructions for this version?

Thanks, Rob.

Thanks for the link but the only option on there that looks like it might help is "Cleanup" and that isn't available for my backup. I'm guessing because it's not a non-stop backup. I suspect this functionality has either been removed from TI 2015 or missed out by accident.

So you are saying that the Delete option is not available to you when you select the last version of the backup chain?

How do I delete an older backup (data only) and keep more recent backups on my external USB drive? The choices seem to be delete settings or delete settings and data. There is no choice to select and delete older backup chains. I got frustrated and deleted some in windows (big no no) to make room on my external 4TB USB and now my metadata seems messed up and I am having no end of trouble. How do I fix the metadata so I can start making valid backups and how do I delete older backup chains? Don't tell me to use the number of backups limit in the setups menu since the number that fits on my external varies with how many edits I make (I have a lot of pictures)

This is probably not going to set well with users but I have found a KB Article covering 4 independent methods of deleting backups. I suspect that these procedures were put into place to solve the issue with users deleting backups using Windows Explorer and thus trashing the Backup Archives Database. Would have been nice to have had this in the product documentation I think.

Yes. I've used True Image for around 15 years through many versions so I know the underlying functionality pretty well. I can't find anyway to browse the different versions for management in TI 2015. In an earlier version, the display of backup versions was a grid and there were options to delete from there. In TI 2015 this grid is gone and the only time you see versions is when you select to restore.

Cheers, Rob.

Paul above is basically describing the same issue.

BTW - I do know that TI 2015 will spot when a version is missing and ask whether it should ignore it. So I suspect I might be able to delete the last version from Windows Explorer and that will work. But it doesn't answer the question from Paul about deleting an older version. If you had a backup that had full1, incr1a, incr1b, full2, incr2a etc. you used to be able to delete full1, incr1a & incr1b from the backup via the console.
