Deleting My_partitions

Thread needs solution

I am new to this. It appears that I have small backup for 5 times then a total backup for the 6th. So my backup drive is getting full. I have 5 My_partitions at around 12MB and 2 for 125MG totalling 300GB, plus there is aWindows backup etc.
Can I just delete the My_Partitions. The most recent full one is 2/13, then smaller ones 2/6, 1/30 etc and a full one on 12/30. Can I just delete all the small ones and the big one from December? Can I feel confident that once the big one comes, I can delete all the came before? Thank you.

Note the names assigned to the backups at the end of the file name.
You will note that Full_b1_s1_v1 is the large one and this is the foundation for the smaller files which come next.
Chain 1 will read similar to this from your description
The first and foundation is the Full_b1_s1_v1
The next file will probably be Inc_b1_s2_v1.
The next file will probably be Inc_b1_s3_v1
The next file will probably be Inc_b1_s4_v1
The next file will probably be Inc_b1_s5_v1
The next file will probably be Inc_b1_s6_v1

the next backup chain will begin with a large file
Full_b2_s1_v1

When deleting files, it shoud be done from within the program using the Acronis Backup Explorer--not from within Windows Explorer.

When deleting filels, you need to be sure that the "b" number is the same number on all files to be deleted.
The little files (inc) have no value if the full backup is deleted so the little files must be deleted before the large size backup marked "Full" with the same b number.

The below is the Acronis Backup Explorer view. It has many options, one of which is the DELETE opton for tib backups.
The user can select the most recent backup for deletion; or if some earlier backups are selected for deletion, then all the newer backups will be deleted as well. One good feature about this DELETE option, is that the program will tell you how many files willl be deleted and the user must confirm the DELETE as wanting to be done.

Note: this deletion of backup relates only to those created by this specific task. If you have other tib backup tasks with tib backup files to be deleted, you will need to open each task individually and delete that group using the same procedure as detailed in the prior paragraph. There is no one single DELETE OPTION that will delete all backup files as any deletion by the program is done at TASK LEVEL.

If it were me, I would prefer to set up a new task where the program will do the deletions itslef automatically so you would not have to contend with manual deletion.

To set up for automatic deletions, an examle is listed in signature link 2 beow and browse to the illustation 11-Inc which has autoatic cleanup as part of the example. Change the 6 and 4 example to fit your own needs.

This is all really confusing to me. When I spoke with online help about easier stuff it was of little help. When they send links to support they do not seem to be talking about the same program. No wonder I had this program for 4 years and it was not backing up tif files only window files.

That being said. I just went to Backup scheme and the "create only incremental.." is checked, but obviously that is not what is happening. It is marked "incremental scheme" and Incremental"

I guess I need a bigger backup drive. I currently have 1TB and the full is 130GB, so two plus little ones is 300GB, plus there are other non-acronis backups on it. I am looking at 11-Inc and even with 2 it will fill my drive.

I do not understand what I need to do. I currently have one My Partitions, set for Thursday. Do I change that one? Why do they say make a new task? I think I really want just a differential. That is what I have on my daily files backup.

So how can I simply delete the old tif files and get a quick weekly backup? Can I just do a differential, which only backsup the changed files, or will that take up a lot of room too? If I should be doing incremental, how is best to set this up(11-Inc does not seem to work for my setup)? Thank you
