Deleting old backups?

Thread needs solution

I am using True Image Home 2011. I see there is now an upgrade to 2012. However, I'd like to do a backup with 2011 before upgrading because the last two backups failed for me due to a lack of space. I guess my senior years is beginning to cloud my mind because I think that there is a way to delete the oldest backups, but just can find it.
I just don't want to load a new version and have the same problem.

You are doing the right thing: do a system backup before you install 2012!

To delete older versions, open ATI, click on the explore and recover link. THis will open a window called the backup explorer window. At the bottom of that window, you will see a timeline. Click on the left to see older versions. Right click on a given version to delete it.

You can also delete the TIB files on you disk, using windows explorer, paying attention to the date they were created. THis is a slightly worse methode because ATI will still believe that the files are on disk. If you do it manually, make sure you delete entire chains (a chain is a full with its following incremental or differential backups). You cannot use windows explorer to delete older files in the Acronis Secure Zone, since it is protected from being accessed by Windows Explorer.

Make sure your disk backup contains all the partitions on the disk that contains your OS, including any hidden partition (system reserved, OEM, diagnostics, recovery, etc.).
Also make sure you can boot your computer on the Acronis recovery CD and restore a couple of files from your backup.

Thanks for the info. I'll get to this as soon as I can (don't ever buy the stories about retired seniors having nothing to do!).
