Deleting Reserve Copies

Thread needs solution

ATI 2015 18.0.0.6525

I just upgraded from the 2014 version. The 2015 version may be prettier, but the older versions were much easier to use.

Normally, I back up my C: partition to F with reserve copies to the external drive (H). About twice a week I get rid of the oldest reserve copies, leaving the last two. In the 2014 version, I clicked the gear icon, selected Recover Files, waited for the list to populate, and selected the version to delete. No problem.

This morning I thought I was doing the same thing (selecting an older version), but ALL of the reserve copies went bye-bye. Erk! So how do I select individual versions to delete?

Your one and only method for individual deletion is to do it manually from within Windows Explorer followed by a start of a manual validation which will prompt you to perform an "ignore error" message--one ignore click for each file deleted.

You mght want to set up the reserve copies creation via a separte task so the reserve copy task can be set for automatic cleanup and auto deletion of the oldest copies to be performed via the program automatically.

Depending upon the type of backup scheme you wish to create, here is an example of each type. These can be set up for Disk image, or Partiton, or Files-folders backups. These example show how to set up automatic cleanup so the program will do the deletion after it reaches your set goal of how many chains to retain.

Editing an existing task is not recommended. Better to start with a new task using a new non-identical task name and point to a new storage sub-folder so each task has it own storage folder/sub-folder.

GH11. Create Custom Full Backup Scheme....Store/Keep 4 versions (chains). Use whatever number best fits the individual needs..

GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme. ...Keep Full plus 6 Inc per chain. Store/Keep 4 chains. Use whatever number best fits your needs.

GH13. Create Custom Differential Backup Scheme. ...Keep Full plus 2 Diff per chain. Store/Keep 2 chains. Use whatever number best fits your needs.

That doesn't seem like much of an improvement, taking away a useful option. Can I run the two backup jobs sequentially?

Also, what happened to the "Create Shortcut" option? Is that gone too? I could create two backup jobs, and run them in a batch file.
