Dell M6800 USB Drives

Thread needs solution

This issue has been happening to me since I started using Acronis with True Image 2014, and the problem still persists in 2015. I use a Dell Precision M6800 laptop, and I have tried to install Acronis on it. However, after installing Acronis, USB drives do not behave as they should. The first drive I plug in after a fresh restart works fine, but if I try to eject the drive (properly or not), the drive does not disappear, nor does Windows tell me anything about it being safe to remove the drive or not. The drive disappears from the list of drives in the "Safely Remove Hardware" prompt. This leaves me to unplug it "unsafely". After doing this, the drive remains listed in Computer with the other drives in my computer, even though it is unplugged. Any drives I plug in after that do not show up, and are not recognized in any way, even if I plug in the same drive!

The only solution is to restart the computer, which ends up in a BSoD after 10 minutes of "Shutting Down...", with the error Driver Power State Failure. After Windows reboots, everything is working fine again until I remove a USB drive, then the cycle starts all over again.

I am running Windows 7 x64 on a Dell Precision M6800. This issue occurs on multiple laptops of this model, but none others that I have found. The symptoms are 100% reproducible. Deos anyone have any idea what is going on? I have attached the system information dump in case it would help anyone.

Thanks in advance!
Sean
