Differences and advantages between boot media based on Linux and Windows...

Thread needs solution

Hello everybody,
It's my first post on this forum.

I have just a simple question.

What are advantages to build a bootable media based on Linux, what's about Windows PE?
Could you explain?

Cheers,

With Linux, the Microsoft OS is not involved in any way so can not cause any problems in the boot environment.

The PE version however, uses the Windows Pre Install Environment and has the advantage that it will use Windows drivers and be almost as fast as when using the OS itself.

The drawback with the Linux one, is that occasionally the drivers don't recognise your hardware and can be slower when it comes to imaging.

To make a PE version you will need to download the WIAK environment for your system.

If by PE you meant the BartPE which is available then there is nothing else that you need to download, but you do need your OS installation disk. BartPE is based on XP.
