Differential

Thread needs solution

Clarify, If I select a differential scheme, the first time it is run it will make a FULL version and thereafter differentials. I don't need to make a Full version, then on the next back select Differential? Thanks.

Your thought process is mostly correct but that is not what you need.

You don't want never ending differentials. You need to set a limit on the number of differential so when it reaches that number, a new full backup will be created. If you also set up automatic cleanup, then the program will delete the oldest chain when it reaches the limit of how many chains you wish to keep.

Set up your task similar to this gh13 example so the program will do the cleanup of old chains, otherwise, you will be deleting the oldest chains manually and that brings grief and an out of sync backup program.

GH13. Create Custom Differential Backup Scheme. ...Keep Full plus 2 Diff per chain. Store/Keep 2 chains. Use whatever number best fits your needs.
