differential backup creates big file every day
I have setup a backup of many files ... daily with a differential scheme.
First day i had a full backup of 2tb, fine.
From second day, for every day a file of 128 gb...
I do not think any file has changed.... but how can i verify which files have been backed up every day?
i do not ses any log...

Incremental backups can be big because your have system protection turned on, and system protection has created shadow copies of big files like databases, media files, etc. depending on your situation.
As I don't see a lot of added security with system protection when I have ATI backups, I turned the system protection off.

hi,
for system protections do you mean files hystory? I use windows8 and files hystory is off.
What elese could I check?

Check that the Windows defragger or 3rd party one isn't running in the background. If it is, this will cause large images to be made as the disk sectors will be changing from image to image.

maybe i found the problem... system protection is one thing, file history another.
both disabled now. let's see.
thanks so much.

Unfortunatelly even disabling both the problem is still there.
Every day i get a 128gb (exactly same size every day) of which i ignore the content.
Problem is still here. I have no defag of any sort, file history and system protection disabled for every disk ... even if PC is unused it creates that backup.
Is there any log or way to see what inside?

Try to uninstall ATI, run chkdsk X: /R on the partition you are backing up. It is possible some corruption of the file system throws ATI off. Then reinstall ATi and create new backup tasks (you can move manually after uninstalling the existing backup files to another location on the same disk for safekeeping).

i can try but is there any way to see what is inside the backup file? that would help a lot instead of doing random test.
Is there any log or way to mount only the single backup fuile?

I am not sure this will work, but you could try to mount the first archive to drive M, for example, and the following backup to drive N and then use some folder comparison software (or visual inspection) to determine which set of file is changed between the 2.

Brainstorming......
The fact that the size is always 128GB might inply that a hidden partition is included in the backup path??
