directions

Thread needs solution

Hello
Could you please tell me where I can find directions for using my Acronis TI Home 2010.
I wish to backup to a usb drive in case of HDD failure so I can recover the image.
It is not easy for unskilled users but worth persuing.
Thank you

See Grover's Index http://forum.acronis.com/forum/3426 sections 3A. The guides are for an older version but the general process is the same. I'd also suggest the User Guide http://www.acronis.com/download/docs/atih2010/userguide.

Peter,

It would also help if we knew which version of Windows is involved. and the make/model of your computer. Also, there was a recent update of builds/fixes for the 2010 version available from your registration page.

If you are totally new to TrueImage backups, a good starting point is to use the user created Rescue CD. I assume that you have installed the program and created the Rescue CD.

The Rescue CD can perform both backups and restores.

Boot from the Rescue CD and choose the Backup option.

When choosing what is to be included in the backup, check mark the Disk as the option. You want more in your backup than just the drive C--you want every partition on your system disk to be included--especially if you want to use the backup to recreate a new disk--should you have a need.

Click on my signature below to access an index of help items. Check item #3 which has separate guides for both a backup and restore. These are for prior versions but not too different if you use the Rescue CD for the creation and restores.

You should boot from the REscue CD and do some practice sessions. It is practice until you reach the last screen where you must choose either PROCEED or CANCEL. When you reach this decision point, click the Cancel button on start all over for as many times as you wish until you feel comfortable with the procedures. Reading the guides several times will help and there is a distinct learning curve.

While inside my index looking at item #3, check out some of the other listings both above and below #3 as the index can point you to answers from prior postings. A user manual is also a good place to spend some quality reading time. My signature below also links to user guides.

Good luck with your learning and welcome to the forum.

Edit:
Thomas,
I was creating the post while Thomas was posting--thus the duplication.
