Disk Backup: cannot enter source

Thread needs solution

Acronis True Image 2012 had difficulty installing on my Thinkpad with Windows Vista. It ended with the rather unhelpful message "Installation has failed. Fatal error during installation." I ran Repair and it finished installing.

But when I attempt to do a disk backup, the Source field is blank and protected. Clicking the triangle for the dropdown list does nothing. So there is no way to specify the source to be backed up.

The computer had been running Acronis True Image 10 so I had uninstalled it first, but I suspect there may be register entries or something left over that causes this issue. I did a fresh install on another laptop running Windows 7 and had no problem.

In case they are helpful I've attached acronissystemreport.zip and acronistrueimage.msi_.txt.

Is there a utility to eradicate Acronis True Image 10? Other suggestions?

If you had a previous version of the Plus Pack on your laptop this will need to be uninstalled.

Have you tried running the installer using Run as Administrator and selecting a repair install.

Hello all,

Thank you for taking time to contact us.

Alan,

If the solution provided by Colin doesn't help, please download the SnapAPI file available in this article. Install it, reboot the system and see if the issue remains.

Please note that you should use the file shared for Acronis True Image Home 2012.

Thank you.
