"Disk Full" error ...Disk is not 1/10 full

Thread needs solution

I am attempting a file backup from a Win7 Pro  machine. I want to copy the 4 top folders of a NTFS formatted data disk. The total size of the folders is 624GBs on a 2TB dive.

I want to back up the folders separately each as a new full backup. The receiving drive is on my FreeBSD Samba server. The 2TB drive is newly formatted. I have fscked the drive; it is clean. The drive has one 1.8TB partition. "True Image” keeps stopping at 50GBs telling me the disk is full.

What can I do with this $%^&* software?  It does have pretty colors though.

Sorry but too little information to start guessing at what the problem here might be?

What version of Acronis software are you using?  This forum is intended for older / obsolete versions of Acronis True Image from 2015 backwards.

What actual folders are you trying to backup here?
Are they Windows 7 system folders that could have junctions embedded to other data on the system?

What do the logs for the backup task show?

Logs can be found in the C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Logs folder structure and if using an older version of True Image prior to 2020, then will be found in the ti_demon folder.  If using ATI 2020 or later then you will need to use the MVP Assistant log viewer to find the correct logs depending on what type of backup you are doing here?

Download a copy of the MVP Assistant log viewer tool and use this to look at the logs to see if they show any issues during the operation process?

The latest version of the new log viewer tool is at the link below.
MVP Assistant update for Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office (Version 1.1.6.0)

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.

The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.

Note: the MVP Assistant will not work with older versions of ATI prior to 2017 or 2018 as the naming conventions used for logs was changed by Acronis.  There is an older MVP Log Viewer available via the Acronis Community tools link in my signature that can be used for those older versions.

Steve Smith, thank you for looking in. You offer a good deal of help on these forums.

The fault proved to be a drive that was one year past its 5-year warranty. I had smart tools monitoring the drives -- but received no warning from that source. I ran a manual test and discovered the problem. (I had no idea that there was a drive that old in that stack. I ran tests on all the drives – the others are less than half that age) I popped in a new drive and the backup is proceeding.

Glad that you have found and resolved the fault with the drive, those problems are not the easiest to find so well done!  Thanks for the feedback.
