disk, online and other backups

Thread needs solution

hi, I'm just setting up my backups on true image 2013 but need some things cleared up.

The disk & image, online, files, email or non-stop backups are all separate and it seems I have to create separate jobs for each feature. For instance, if I create a backup job under 'files' can I then at a later date enable online and non-stop under the same job or would it need three separate jobs?

thanks

They will all be 3 separate jobs.

ok, thanks. Is there any documentation that elaborates on how they work. I've selected non-stop backup and it only lets me select a drive as a destination rather than a specific folder. Also, when I view the destination drive I can't see any files so not sure if its backing up or not even though it says non-stop backup is in progress.

Can anyone explain how non-stop backup functions and if the above is correct?

thanks

j

The non stop folder is a hidden folder in the root directory of the disk you have selected as the destination disk. If you enable hidden files and folders viewing you should now see a folder called Timeline, in here will be the NSB backups.

thanks, see that now. Should have thought of doing that myself really.

Is there a way of validating the backup or will the software simply alert me if something goes wrong, such as the destination drive not being available, corrupt files, a file not backing up, etc?

I've seen some backup software that mark each folder depending on whether it needs backing up or not. Is there anything similar in true image?

I don't know if or how NSB tracks file integrity, I do know it will warn if the destination disk is full.

k, thanks. It seems to work well enough. Probably does a lot of stuff I can't see so its a 'set and forget' thing for the user
