Does Acronis True Image have a diff tool?

Thread needs solution

Hi all

I use Acronis True Image to make backups of 3 of my partitions. An incremental image of my system partition and 2 file backups of my data partitions. The system partition runs every day when I boot the pc. So it's very easy for me to return to a previous state. Now I would like to see which files have changed over backups. Is there any tool available to do this? Since this is how an incremental backup works, I figured it would be quite easy to store this data somewhere. But it seems Acronis True Image does not have this feature. Or did I overlook it? I currently use a tool I developed myself, but it is quite timeconsuming to copy the backups into a temporary folder and run the tool. I keep all of my software and data seperated. 'My document' has also been moved to another partition. But I wouldn't want to erase valuable data when I restore a backup and find out when I need it.

Thanks

Steven

This has been requested before. Currently, there isn't any tool available.

Would it be faster for you if you made image backups of the data partitions? Couldn't you Mount those and compare them?

Sorry about that. I searched the forum before posting and did some googling, but nothing showed up.

The backups of data are not that much of a problem, since I know exactly what data is stored in them, where it is stored and when it is changed.
I have split my programs and data in four parts.

  • Partition for Windows and common programs (Office, Media Player,...) - image every day
  • Partition for Documents, music, drivers, setups - slow changing, data bu twice a week
  • Partition for specialized software (CAD, Visual Studio, electronics) - bu is useless
  • Partition for data of specialized software - fast changing, high value, data bu every day

I just copy the files for sake of safety. Call me paranoid, but I don't want a crash to wreck a mounted backup.
This has happened to me before, I managed to split a mounted backup into two files O_o
The slowness can be found in my program, but what do you expect... checking every file on a system partition is quite a timeconsuming job. I'm glad I don't have to do it myself :D.
