Does a disk backup handle files, even if I don't have permissions to view them?

Thread needs solution

I have TI Home 10, and I'm creating a backup of a harddrive that was taken out of a friend's dying laptop. I have it mounted in an external USB case.

From Windows, I can't access some of the folders on the harddrive, since the permissions only allow the owner (from the other laptop's user accounts) to view.

My question is this: if I backup using the entire drive/partition method, will those folders be backed up even though I can't access them?

Sorry if this is a basic question, I couldn't find an answer when searching for "permissions". Thanks!

It should backup everything.

After you make the backup, you could try taking over the permissions for the files/folders (assuming the drive isn't going back into the laptop).
