Does TIH 2013 NonStop Backup support the Synology NAS DS213 SHR file system?

Thread needs solution

I have TIH 2012 and am considering upgrading to 2013. Key enhancements I am looking for involve improve support for Synology NAS. Specifically, NonStop Backup support for Synology Hybrid RAID HR file system on my two disk DS213. TIH 2012 only supports NTFS and FAT32 for Nonstop Backup, so I currently schedule nightly incremental file backups. Plus, I had to map a drive as the Backup dialog would not find it. I cannot find specifics on improved NAS support (e.g., list of devices or features) on the TIH 2013 product pages or the user guide.

Can anyone answer by SHR support question and supply any further details on NAS support?

Have you done any forum searches? You should. There are several threads about Synology NAS.

When using ATI with a network drive, use a UNC path to to your NAS device for a backup destination, not a typical friendly "mapped" drive.
e.g.
\\192.168.2.25\My Backups\

I believe it may also be possible to use a UNC path that includes server name rather than IP, such as
\\server1\My Backups\

Acronis Nonstop Backup storage can only be put on a partition with NTFS file system.

Other file systems (e.g. FAT32) are not supported.

This limitation is due to the fact that Acronis Nonstop Backup needs the sparse file attribute to function (e.g. to perform autoconsolidation). The sparse file attribute was introduced in NTFS. See also Microsoft TechNet Article: NTFS File System (Sparse File Support).
