Does True Image 2013 support cloning HDD under XP SP3 to HDD with 4k sectors
Hi,
I want to clone my old disk(1TB) to a new disk(1TB) under Windows XP SP3 in order to forecome a future crash (the old disk is already 3 years old) and because the new disk requires less power.
Normally this would be an easy task, but my new disk uses 4k sectors. So I informed me that the number of the logical sector borders between partitions should be located on multiples of 8 (begin of the 1st partition) / 4096 (all the others).
1) Can I perform the clone automatically or do I have to manually assign the borders of the partitions ?
2) What if my new disk with 4k sectors would be bigger than 1TB ?
Thanks in advance for an answer.

Hi,
When I bought the True Image 2014 to back up a Windows XP over a year ago, I ran into a problem with the USB external HDD with 4k physical sector size not being recognized by the bootable media. The problem was finally resolved by formatting the external USB drive. I had the same problem when trying to use True Image 2015 to backup some Windows 7 computers, which finally was resolved in an upgrade to TI2015.
However, now that I need to restore an image from the USB drive to a new internal hard drive in the Windows XP, I find that the new drive, a Seagate 1000 GB SATA HDD with the advanced format 4k sector sizes is "unsupported". So the bootable media does not see the new HDD as the location where the image can be restored. The "Add a New Disk" tool registers that the new HDD is in the machine, but says it is unsupported.
Judging by the postings in the forum this seems to be an ongoing problem with True Image. I am also wondering what would happen at the point I have to restore a disk image to the Windows 7 machines.
Has Acronis found any solution to this problem.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Robert
