Thread needs solution

Help, I am downloading my backup from the cloud, but the default location is the downloads folder of my C drive, I don't have enough space there and need to download it to my external drive which I have attached to this computer, please help! How can I do that?

Janine, according to the ATI 2019 User Guide: Recovering data from online backups - you should be able to change where you want to store the download file data.

To recover files and folders from Acronis Cloud:

  1. Start Acronis True Image 2019.
  2. On the sidebar, click Backup.
  3. From the backup list, select the backup which contains the files or folders that you want to recover.
  4. On the right panel, click Recover files.

You will be taken to Acronis Cloud website.

If the data from the selected computer is stored on the Cloud in encrypted form, you will be asked to enter the password which has been used for encryption. You will not be able to access the data until you enter the correct password.

  5. After the Files tab on the Acronis Cloud website opens, select the required online backup in the Backups area.
  6. Select the files and folders you want to recover. Click the Download button to start recovery.

If you selected several files and folders, they will be placed into a zip archive.

By default the data will be downloaded to the Downloads folder. You may change the download path.

Thanks, Well I am downloading from the cloud using my son's computer, I need to make that file download to my external drive which is attached to this computer. I don't have 2019 I had 2014.  I don't see a way to change the download path on the cloud. Also this is an image file.

So anyone know how to change the download path from the cloud to download to an external drive attached to my computer?

Janine, the ATI 2014 User Guide basically says exactly the same, that you can change where you download the file to.

If you can open the Acronis Cloud web page then the following images should show how to download your backup file (zipped) to where-ever you want to store it.

Thank you but it doesn’t give me that option. It only automatically starts the download to the c drive downloads folder. Can someone tell me why I am not getting an option where to save the backup? It automatically starts downloading to the c download folder.

Janine, the only other suggestion here is to move the location of the Downloads folder temporarily (make a note of the default location when doing so!).

In Explorer, expand My PC, then find Downloads, right-click on this and select Properties, then on the Properties page, open the Location tab where you will see an option to move the location to your external drive.
