[DUPLICATE] Windows 8 support for True Image home?
Just tried to install True Image 2012 on my system after upgrading to Windows 8. Not surprised when I get a compatibility error. No matter, I download the latest version online, and still get the same warning, and install fails.
So, it seems 2012 is no longer supported. I see there is a True image 2013, and wonder if this is an upgrade path? But then I notice something about Windows 8 not yet being supported?
Am I missing something? Or am I just stuck?

Joseph,
Acronis has indicated they will provide an update to 2012 to support Windows 8. There is no time frame for this.
As Colin B indicates, ATI 2013 runs fine on Windows8, but can show some glitches. A workaround for the scheduler issue is to use Windows task scheduler to run the backups. This is what I do.

Just to comment, I beta tested 2013 on W8 RTM the two problems that are now being noted were not seen by beta testers who were also using W8 RP and RTM. This is not to say the problem didn't exist, there may not have been enough people with W8 for this problem to appear, what I can say is that the scheduling problem didn't appear during my testing but I do have it under W8 with both TI 2013 RTM and updated W8.
There was a large update to W8 just before W8 became publicly available, whether Microsoft have updated something which has changed TI 2013 behaviour or whether Acronis made a 'minor' adjustment between TI 2013 RC and TI 2013 release I don't know, possibly both made alterations and the problem has appeared.
Not everyone who has W8 is seeing either or both these two problems.

Mike,
I feel your anger concerning the Acronis policy in regard to Windows 8 support.
If you really want to complain where it will do any good, you should contact Acronis directly, and not just post willy nilly all over the forums.
Your posts may make you feel better, but they are of little value here in a user to user support forum. Why not spend some time directing your comments to Acronis management.

I agree. And that's the upgrade offer I was referring to as well. This is last year's version! I can't think of a single other software that a version only 1 legacy to current gets planned obsolescence this quickly.
And considering I got last year's offer of a 1 full + 1 upgrade with Plus packs for both for $30, $40 to upgrade a single copy with plus pack is hardly a bargain in my opinion.

I just sent my two cents to those email addresses as well. While I admittedly sat down originally to complain, I did also offer the suggestion that they allow those of us with registered copies of 2012 to upgrade at a vastly better price as we are having 1 version legacy versions of Acronis forced into obsolescence. While I don't expect them to just give away copies or anything, as I mentioned before, considering they've had far better upgrade offers in the past, $40 to upgrade one copy with a plus pack seems far from reasonable when they are forcing it on their users.

I appreciate the responses. I can imagine that keeping up with operating system changes is a challenge. It is however one shared by all app developers. It's great that they intend to add Win 8 compatibility to the 2012 version, but I don't understand why it wasn't already so. I do feel a bit left out in the cold over this, and will definitely forward my thoughts to the contact addresses above.
I think the real issue for me, is that I no longer feel very confident in this product, and am not too anxious to throw more money at it. I was using this app not only to backup the system image, but to archive and backup many gigabytes of video work. The fact that I can't now no longer access some of these files.
At this point, I'm likely just going to hook the drives up to an older machine, expand the archives, and go another route.

Acronis has updated the Windows 8 compatibility list, and 2012 will not be updated to be Windows 8 compatible. Only the 2013 version of True Image (and, of course, later versions) support Windows 8.
