Email fails, every port, every account, every server

Thread needs solution

I upgraded from TI 2014 to TI 2015. Did a test backup and noticed right away that the email notification no longer worked.

Then tried to send test emails from a backup's notification options (Where's the global settings?!!?). The test emails all failed no matter if I used SSL, TLS, or no encryption.
They failed for 3 different servers and 4 different email accounts.
I even tried the Gmail configuration at https://kb.acronis.com/content/32140 .

The same configurations worked flawlessly for both my email client and other Windows programs. This is clearly a problem that is strictly confined to Acronis.

The error messages are completely useless (and take 4+ clicks, plus a couple of cut-and-paste operations to visit webpage to even have a chance at getting useful information!!!)

I got:
"Event code: 0x0064022B+0x0000FFF0+0x80070003" for some of the things I tried -- completely useless and no additional information.
Or:
"Event code: 0x0064022B+0x0000FFF0+0x80070004" which eventually led to a generic KB article that did not help in my case.

What do I need to do to get email working with this TI 2015 upgrade?

This is on a Windows 7 Professional (SP1) system.

Thank you, GroverH. SSL over the TLS port? Nevertheless, just confirmed that it gives an 0x0064022B+0x0000FFF0+0x80070003 error.

Yesterday, I fired up Wireshark and saw that Acronis basically FUBARs the SMTP from the very start (after the DNS call).

This is what a proper SMTP call looks like from one of my other programs (unsecured protocol):

This is what Acronis does (exact same settings or any variation of SSL or TLS):

(See attachments.)

Acronis is not sending any kind of properly formed SMTP and fails right at server handshake.

Given the above, I uninstalled TI, rebooted, and reinstalled TI. All this did was cost me an hour (install is painfully slow for this program), and completely trash my backup settings.

Backups still work, email still fails in the same ways.

If within 30 days of purchase, direct contact Acronis support via LIVE CHAT and get direct help.

Have you tried disabling the AV or firewall during the test for email check.

Bought the upgrade Dec 1 (it was on sale and I was a sucker, in hindsight).
Due to demands of work and the holidays, didn't actually install it until yesterday so, of course, no support from Acronis.

Yes, I did try disabling my firewall, anti-virus, and HIP. No difference. Acronis still fails to initiate a proper SMTP interaction with a mail server.

I know you did a new 2nd install but maybe you should start over but use the Acronis TrueImage Cleanup utility.
Refer signature link 4 for the 2015 utility. Within the KB link, check the text comments and common instructions.

You might also want to when installing again, right click on the install file and use the Run as Adminis trator option.

The 2015 email should work with the same settings as the 2014 version except for the 587 and SSL settings.

Turns out it was partly Comodo "Internet Security" at fault. Even when it's "disabled" it "protects" you in the background.

Uninstalled that and switched to ZoneAlarm and now test emails go through, but only on the insecure protocol (port 25). SSL and TLS still don't work.

I'll try that Cleanup utility later. I'm tired of wrestling with Windows computers at the moment. Thanks for your help.

This sounds like it could still be a firewall issue. Make sure zone alarm or other AV have the internal settings set to allow your emails to go thru.
I doubt if the cleanup will clear the blockages.

SMTP works flawlessly for all other clients, on the same machine, over either port 465 (SSL) and 587 (TLS).
Only TI fails with an encrypted protocol.

THis is purely an Acronis issue. IF you use SMTP Authentication to an Exchange server - the USER name MUST be a Domain Admin - which is ridiculous. It is NOT firewall, blocked ports or anything of the kind - the email is being improperly sent out. Acronis needs to fix their code and actually test it before they sell it

My E-Mail-notification worked till 3/2/15 23.03.2015. I think it's a problem due to an Update.
I tryed all possible settings...

My Version is Build: 6525

That figures. Sounds like Acronis is using a non-standard, Microsoft, protocol that only works (under rare conditions) with a Microsoft server. It sure as heck doesn't work with 4 different STANDARD email servers -- including Google.

Yet another Acronis bug that they will not fix. This worked on TIH 2010. I upgraded to TIH 2015. Same credentials. Same PC. All email programs work.

This is Acronis bug. One of the hundreds!
