Email notification with blank fields "login" and "password" not possible?

Thread needs solution

When i try to set up email notification for my backup it refuses to save the data if i leave the fields "login" and "password" blank. Strange thing is, if i press "test email" while leaving the fields blank it WORKS perfectly. But if i try to save i get a message : "incorrect or insufficient data in field" because i leave them blank. If i just insert anything in the 2 fields it saves perfectly. Can anybody help me with this problem?

I just bought the licence so i have the latest build. (tried to update)

You are correct, the fields must be filed in, or Acronis True Image will not let you save the settings. As a work around, you could use a public email account (GMail for example) and then have the public account selectively forward the Acronis Emails to the email account your wish to receive then into.

Have you tried to enter your email address and email account password into the fields? Is so what were your results?

The ability to save the settings for an un-authenticated Email account (those that do not require the Username and Password fields to be used) have been changed, in several earlier versions of True Image, to allow this, and then changed back for reasons I can not understand.

You should contact Acronis Customer support to report this issue with them directly.

Thanks for the reply James.

I will try to enter the credentials for the incoming mail into the fields in the notification. Didn't try that before. If that fails i will have to use your workaround. It's interesting that they chose to change this because i've used it with previous versions without any problems. If it's a safety issue on their part that would be strange.

I'll report it to acronis.

Cheers
