Empty folders after backdated restore

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I noticed when I do a restore to a previous image, empty folders from an earlier state remains. The folders were created after image creation.

My assumptions are that the folders will no exist since it was created after the image. I am unable to find any documentation to explain this behaviour.

E.g

1. Workstation folder "test1" with files inside
2. Use image to restore machine to previous state
3. Workstation folder "test1" empty

I noticed this happens when during the restore process, it says changing partition size instead of deleting partition.

I apologise if I am not clear enough.

It sounds as if you are doing a "Files and folder" restore which is an additive type restore of specific files.

Wherease, if the restore was a "partition or disk" restore, the old contents would be replaced by the new contents.

Hmmm, I did do a disk restore.

Even re-run it several times to ensure I did not make a mistake.

The only way for me to get a proper restore would be if I were to delete the existing partition first. (using the windows installation disc)
