Error 0x7001C, cannot clone to SSD in laptop

hey, i've tried cloning to new SSD from win7 ult, and via bootable media, but neither way it would work. receiving error with 0x7001C.. tried to get system report in acronis, but software crashes every time i click generate.. so i managed to get report from bootable media though.

there's nothing attached to laptop, the target ssd (i've deleted all old partitions and created blank one 256gb) is in it, and the source hdd(160gb) is out connected through usb. When i try to clone "as is" - it would give me error straight away, but when choosing to clone proportionally - the starting window pops up and advises on failure before start of clone.

please help!!!

The error you are receiving is due to disk errors on the source drive. http://kb.acronis.com/content/30858

Open an administrative command prompt and run chkdsk X: /f (replacing "X" with your drive letters) on each volume on your system. This scans just the file system (no surface scan) and fixes any errors it finds.

Try and run the clone again.

If this does not fix it, run this chkdsk command to scan the entire volume for errors - chkdsk X: /r. This also scan the files system, but in addition scans the entire volume surface area for errors. (/r assumes /f, so only the /f or /r is necessary).

I've seen this error on systems that have OEM partitions on them, and the OEM partition has the error. If you can assign a drive letter to the hidden partitions in Windows Disk Management, you can run the chkdsk command on the additional partitions as well. Be sure to remove any temporarily created drive letters when finished with chkdsk.

If you have an additional external hard disk, you can create a full disk image backup of your original drive to the external hard disk and restore it using the bootable Rescue Media to the new SSD installed in the laptop. (This is my preferred method, rather than cloning - with the same results.)

Since the problem may be in the OEM partition and not fixable, here is the workaround.

When booted to the Rescue Media, choose restore My Disks, then select whole disk/partitions. Select only the first partition in the backup image, and restore it to the un-allocated space using sector-by-sector mode. Once finished with the first partition, restore each of the remaining partitions (re-sizing them as you go). You should not need sector-by-sector mode to restore any other partitions. Finally restore the MBR/track 0 and Disk Signature, last. You do not need to exit from the Rescue Media between each of the partition restores. Be sure to mark the correct partition as "active", when restoring the individual partitions

Be sure to take a look at your original disk properties in Windows Disk Manager, to determine which partition is marked as active. Also make a note of the order of the partitions on the disk. This information is helpful during the restore from a backup image.
