Error 2048 Can't Read Sector

This was working fine on a Seagate USB external hard drive. Then I goofed I think and copied a MAC file onto the NTFS formatted Windows 7 Pro USB drive. I deleted the file. After that I can't do a backup. I'm not concerned with the data, I can replace that. I tried reformatting (quick) the USB external drive with Windows 7 and that didn't solve the problem. I am now doing a 'deep' format from the Windows Management Console - which take ages on a 1T USB drive.

I have Acronis True Image Home 10 and could also install the upgrade to 11 (or the full version) as I have those licensed.

This is a blank USB drive now. So why do I get that error and what can I do to fix it? Seagate says the drive is healthy. I can also copy via Easy2Sync several hundred files with no errors. Only Acronis True Image has this problem? I can't use it anymore on this apparently healthy drive.

Can anyone help me?

Brenda

ps. Trying to join Acronis in the cloud was a bust - wouldn't recognize my email address! Yet here I am clearly registered and posting. And I can get into my profile, download my products. So Acronis staff - what gives?
