Error during Clone of Hard Drive with True Image Home 11

Thread needs solution

When I try to clone my Hard Drive (3 partitions) to an External USB Drive (WD5000AK) within the first 5 minutes it fails with this message:

Error - partition configuration has changed

I have cloned the disk successfully before, and could not find any info on this msg in the support forums. I have created a report.txt and NFO files but cannot find an email to send them to. I am using WinXP SP3 and Acronis® True Image Home® version 11.0 (build 8,053)

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Steve

Insert the source into the external drive or other alternate location.
Insert the blank target into its intended boot position to replace the original.

Boot from the TI Rescue CD and perform the clone from the external to the computer. After completion, shut down and disconnect all drives except for the new one. Then reboot with only the clone attached in its intended boot position.

Thanks Grover, but perhaps I was not clear in describing my problem.

I was trying to make a backup copy of my HARD drive to the USB External drive. I am not sure what you meant when you said "Insert the source into the external drive...".

But no worries...my problem is solved by using Spinrite to scrub my hard disk. I guess it was able to resurrect some bad data, because after Spinrite ended and I rebooted, I was able to use Acronis Home 11 to clone all 3 partitions on my Hard Drive to the USB Drive.

Way to go, Steve Gibson (of Spinrite).
