Error: "error occurred while connecting to the update server"after Windows 10 update--ATI Home 2010

Thread needs solution

When I try to reload my Acronis True Image Home 2010 disk on my new Windows 10 operating system, I get the error message: "error occurred while connecting to the update server"

I downloaded a bad root kit or virus onto my computer, and decided to repave my hard drive with a previous image.  I previously had Windows 7, and used the free Windows 10 upgrade.  I had installed ATI 2010 on my computer previously after upgrading the operating system, so I am not sure what the issue is.

Does anyone know why it is doing this and have a solution?

I thought I had put this on my computer after I had upgraded to Windows 10, but I just tried downloading the installation file offered to me through my registered Acronis account, and received the message:

"The app you're trying to use was blocked from opening because it might damage your PC or result in loss of data. This is because some apps that worked with a previous version of Windows might not work in the same way with Windows 10."

The installation file Acronis provided me with was TrueImage2010.7160_s_uk.exe.  Does anyone know if they supplied me with the incorrect version (I don't live in the U.K.)? Is it possible that if this software is installed on Windows 7, and then the OS is upgraded to Windows 10 that it will function?

Unfortunately, TI 2010 is not compatible with Windows 10. Only TI 2017,2016 and 2015 are compatible and supported.

Thanks, Thomas.  Is it compatible with Windows 7?  Perhaps I added it just before I upgraded to Windows 10.  I was able to install last time.  This seems like the only way it could have worked.

Yes, TI 2010 is compatible with Win 7. I ran that version for a few years on Win 7.
