Error Occurred While Reading the File - Disk Restore

Thread needs solution

I am unable to restore a verified backup. I get the message "error occurred while reading the file" with a "verified" backup file created with True Image Home 2011. Backup file is located on a USB portable hard drive connected to WinXP pro SP3 computer. Here is the history.

1. Hard drive failed to boot, probably from a trashed boot sector and other problems.
2. Low level check of hard drive using Seatools long test found no errors on the drive.
3. Attempted to restore a backup using Acronis rescue disk. Got error after starting recovery operation - "error occurred while reading the file."
4. Partition on destination drive was trashed. Reinstalled Windows and updated to SP3.
5. Installed Seatools for Windows and did low level long test on USB portable hard drive. No errors were found.
6. Downloaded and installed trial version of True Image Home 2012.
7. "Verified" backup file and no errors were reported.
8. Attempted to restore backup file via TI 2012 windows interface.
9. Restore attempt went as far as reboot and load Acronis, then got error message "Error Occurred While Reading the File.

I have seen similar problems described in other threads, but no solution yet. Diagnostic file attached. Cannot attach process monitor log - file name extension not allowed. Process monitor log lost by Acronis initiated reboot anyway.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Help will be much appreciated.

I have the True Image 2019 and I am having the same issue. I used the recovery media with earlier versions and it worked just fine. With 2019 it is not working.
