Error Reading the File

Thread needs solution

I got the following error, and I don't understand why.  I ran the task 1 more time and it still failed.  Next time I ran a Validation task and the process completed successfully.

I have an i7 920 and have my backup priority set to Normal and write speed at 100%, and the backup process will take up 98 - 100 % (I don't have a problem with this, but I don't understand why it would be doing it at Normal).  I'm not writing to an external, network, or NAS drive.  I have no other significant processes running at the time I do backups.

Sometimes when this error occurs I have to do a reboot to resolve.  This error does not occur every time.

Attached is the report.txt file.

Any information would be appreciated.

it appears to be failing validating a previous archive. Can you do a full backup so it doesn't do that?

Is that the one on the Backup Method page?  If so, I can't have multiple saved backups right?

Right now, I have it doing an incremental and create a new full backup after 0 incremental archives.

I also had Add to existing Archive on Target archive, I've changed that to Create new backup archive.  Will that make a difference, but still give me my multiple saved backups?

I attempted to verify the previous image and it failed.

Thanks for the help.

Hello Jan,

Thank you for using Acronis Products

Backup of large system volume (e.g., more than 700 GB) may consume more memory than the system can provide.

Solution

Do one or several of the following:

    * Increase memory pool size as described in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 304101;

    * Do not run or schedule for the same date and time both backup and validation tasks for large volumes;

    * Stop memory demanding services during the course of the backup, please see: Using Batch Files in Acronis True Image

Thanks for the responses.

The link to the Microsoft KB doesn't exist anymore.

Here is what I have as far as memory.  I have 3 gig and 10,720MB allocated for Page files between 2 drives.  Some of the allocation is on the drive where I do backups to.  I have 3 internal drives, so what I'm going to do is move the allocation from my backup drive to a 2nd drive.

bin had correctly identified that the error had arisen because a previous backup did not verify.  I believe that to be correct because when I verified E:\Backup\C_Backup\C_Image_Backup3(1).tib, the verification failed.  I did the verification without exiting out of Acronis, although Acronis was not open when the task initially failed, but I opened it to re-run the task.

My next step was a reboot (I did this because of other things, not because of Acronis), so I thought I would verify E:\Backup\C_Backup\C_Image_Backup3(1).tib by pressing F11 at bootup.  The file verified OK.  So I booted into Windows and started up Acronis to re-run the verification of E:\Backup\C_Backup\C_Image_Backup3(1).tib, and it succeeded.

I guess the original issue could be because of memory, but I don't think it should be.  My backup image compresses down to about 63GB from about 90gb - so not any huge 700gb file.

Acronis support or someone, can you clarify my questions and statements in my 2nd post?

Thanks.

I had part on 1 drive and part on another.  1 drive is set to Initial Size 3063 and Max 4096, Recommended is 4594.  I changed it on 1 drive to be system managed.  Now it is about 5 gig.  I may not need it that big, but I don't like running out of memory.
