Error on recovery: "there is insufficient space in the recovery destination"

Thread needs solution

In 2013 I purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad T430u PC running Windows 8.0 Pro (subsequently upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro), and Acronis True Image 2013. I have been doing weekly image backups. My hard drive just failed. I replaced it (under warranty), got it up and running with the operating system. BUT, when I went to restore the Windows partition or the whole disk from my Acronis backup, I get the error message "there is insufficient space in the recovery destination."

I'm currently on Acronis True Image 2013 build 6514, which states that the following issue was fixed with this build: Sometimes recovery is impossible and results in the error "There is insufficient space in the recovery destination".

So, for me this still appears to be an issue. I've looked through the forum and knowledge base and see the problem reported multiple times, but get no clear resolution. Can anybody give me guidance?
