Error trying to install Acronis true image 2012 says program has compatibility issues

Thread needs solution

Hey I got a free install from buying an ADATA SSD drive and the link points me to a 2012 version of the file but after I download it I get an error saying this program has compatibility issues. I have read online where people used the GPedit.msc program to turn off the compatibility issue(s) but I dont have this program installed on my windows 8.1 which is fully up to date. Is there anyway to install this program or is it just bugged? Since I have not registered the product yet (never gave me the option) I cannot get tech support or use the support page only these forums. Shame but I have never gotten any Acronis program to work 100% even the free versions western digital used to give when you got a new hard drive from them. Always some kind of error.

Apparently 2012 the program that comes with my newly bought SSD drive doesnt run on windows 8.X???? Never heard of such a thing. There is a link to an article stating its not compatible. So I guess the only thing left to do is complain to the manufacture of the SSD drive ADATA for using such a company. What would be a good alternative to do complete drive clones and I will suggest to ADATA that they use this company or at least research using another company.

You could try the free version of AOMEI Backupper or Macrium Reflect. Both are very solid programs that fully support Windows 8.1 and GPT partitions.

The party at fault here is ADATA. It is ridiculous that they don't provide their version of Acronis that is compatible with Windows 8.1 with all of their SSD drives. If you do a search for ADATA in these forums, you'll see that everyone has issues trying to activate the keys they provide. I will never purchase ADATA or Crucial SSDs based on all the issues I have seen with them in this forum.
