Error while reading file
Hi all,
I am running TI 2015, latest build. It has been running fine for months, but lately it has been giving me the error:
Error while reading the file,
Event code: 0x00040001+0x00040001+0x0000FFF0+0x80070017
I have formatted both source and destination drive with no errors, and re-run the backup / restore. Backup (the full system drive) completes with no errors. Restore is to a second bootable system drive.
Error logs seem to indicate Acronis is looking at other drives on the sytem, even though I am not backing up or restoring to them.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Regars,
Steve

Thanks Steve.
Normally I clone my win 7 64 bit OS to another drive on a dual boot setup, so I have a disaster recovery system if the main OS drive fails. I create a full OS backup daily automatically at midnight , but restore only every so often if I add any programs or Win updates.
I tried to do a routine recovery and received the error message as below:
Description: Stage Description
Information: Error occurred while reading the file.
Details:
A possible reason may be poor media quality.
Please press Retry to continue with Volume Full system (C) backup_full_b75_s1_v1.tib or press Cancel to cancel the operation.
The event code is as listed above.
The logs show CRC errors, see attached logs.
As the error mentioned possible media error, I formatted the source drive (no errors) and re-ran the backup with validation. As I have many programs on my PC, it takes approx 11 hours to backup and validate. Problem still occured after formatting suceeded and showed no errors. Ran chkdsk /r, and /f, re-ran backup, same error. Ran Acronis disk director check function, which seems to be the same as Windows disk error check, again no issues found, re-ran backup with validate, same issue.
As you can imagine, sorting this out is taking some time.
Today I re-ran chkdsk with the /B parameter and it found a few bad sectors. I am about to run chkdsk /b again, then will run the backup overnight with validation and see what happens.
I have attached the relevant log files. The file dated 30 Apr 2016 is the last successful restore, the one dated 11 Jul 2016 @ 00:00:04 is the backup I tried to recover and the log file dated 11 Jul 2016 @ 09:22:57 is the first unsuccessful attempt at recovery. I have not been able to recover since, even though a backup with no validation appears to have succeeded.

After running chkdsk with the /B parameter, all seems ok now, so it looks like it was a corrupted disk.
