Event Code XXX

Thread needs solution

Hello Everyone,

I've setup my backup to be on a daily basis at 3am and I've used the incremental backup. I've selected a few important folders and that's about it.

I woke up this morning to find ATI consolidating the backups. That's good but estimated time remaining was around 235 days XXX hours and mins. I left the consolidation process alone thinking that _maybe_ because I've kept the CPU busy then estimated time has shot up. I leave the PC alone only to see that we have lost all power at house.

After power comes back on, I check on ATI and it's not resuming any process at all. Oh and by the way, last night the back up didn't take place!!! Anyways, I start the consolidation manually and it fails as follows"

"Failed to open data stream. Try to remove the backup from the list etc etc etc"

Event code that I got from this is 0x01E50015+0x00040014+0x0000FFF0+0x80070020

Obviously, didn't get much help on website that's why I turned to the forum.

What's the way forward? I think I am running out of space on my target drive for further backups. Moreover, I think my backup scheme is off in terms of available diskspace. Number of full versions and incremental versions and the clean up policies!

Greetings,
Based on your description, and the fact your system experienced an unplanned shutdown during an operation, I think its safe to say that something could have become broken or corrupt.

I wouldn't normally recommend deleting back ups manually, but when consolidation fails due to unplanned shutdown, manual intervention is probably necessary.

Close the program
Delete your archives .xml file
Perform manual consolidation/clean up

Create a new back up folder
Start the program
Delete your old task
Create a new back up task/scheme and point it at the new folder
Perform a few back ups
Validate all back ups regularly
Test restore of one or more files from a newly created image
When satisfied, use the program to delete your old back ups to reclaim diskspace

Thanks @shadowsports for getting back to me. I was actually thinking of doing that but not necessarily that way. I was thinking deleting the old backups and creating a new task. Period. Because I do not have so much disk space left!

Nevertheless, let me see what I can do.

Hi,
Chances are your archives.xml file does not reflect your actual number of back ups. If any corruption or an incomplete consolidation (deletion) exists, there is no good way to recover. Regardless of your method, I would allow the program to recreate the .xml file so the software knows what it has to work with.

Where is the archives.xml located at? Also, how can I allow the program to recreate the .xml file?

C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database\archives.xml

The xml file can be renamed or deleted. It will be automatically recreated when you restart the program.

All tasks will need to be recreated and pointed to new storage folder(s).
