existing msata system drive failing - can I clone to new mstata windows 7?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have a dell machine with an msata and preinstalled windows 7.

Dell's installed diagnostic software recently detected an error on my 256Gb msata drive. The msata is the boot/system drive. They sent me a new one. There is only 1 msata slot. Can I use true image to clone this msata drive in some way(for instance clone msata to some other drive, swap msata drives, boot from the clone and then clone that back to new msata) so as to just switch the old one out and put in the new and system will continue as normal? I could not tell from the faq whether this type of thing would be possible.

Thanks for any help.

Clone functions should be performed using the bootable Recovery Media. A full disk backup of the drive complete with validation should be made first if possible. If the Recovery Media recognizes both drives and allows access to them then you should be able to Clone without issue.

It may be necessary to create a WinPE based Recovery Media to allow for better driver support to perform this task as well.
