External hard drive

Thread needs solution

I purchased ATI Home 2010 at the end of last year, and have struggeld for many months to have it working auotmatically, on a constant basis.

Many support calls have not assisted. A download of the latest build did help resolve some of the issues, but not all.

As a last resort, I purchased a Belkin PCI USB2 card to connect my external WD hard drive into.

I am pleased to say this resolved most of my issues, and I now get to run a daily back up (after arranging to close Outlook automatically every night, as this was also an issue) and non-stop back up works like a dream.

Maybe 1 or 2 days out of seven it still fails on line due to SSL read errors, but 5 or 6 out of 7 is good enough for me and a great improvement on zero

I hope these pointers may help others.

Have your run error error testing on the drives to check for disk errors?
From the command prompt use this command but change the x to your own drive letter.
You will be instructed to reboot before the test will run.

chkdsk X: /R

The PCI-USB card is a good solution for usb problems.
