External HDD contaning my Backup is not recognized during Restore

Thread needs solution

Im made a full backup of "My computer" to an external HDD.
For a Restore process I started my notebook from the original Acronis CD.
However thereafter the external HDD is not recognized, meaning I have no access to the Backup stored on that external DH. Question: How can one make the external HDD recognizable, in order to enable me to start a Restore ?? Thank you for helping me.

Thank you for posting and welcome to our forum. I will definitely help you with this.

Most likely the Acronis bootable CD lacks the proper driver that supports your external hard drive. I can recommend the following solution and a workaround:

1. Please login to your Acronis web-account and download the latest version of the bootable CD, it has the most updated components.

2. If this fails, unfortunately we will not be able to assist you with the version that you have because it is an outdated product, but I will send you a private message in a few minutes with a trial version bootable CD for Acronis True Image 2011 Home. It has better hardware support and is compatible with your version's backups. As a trial version it is limited to restore operations only. Please check page 69 in our User Guide for information regarding backup restoration.
