Failed to add the backup to the backup list.
I am using Acronis True Image Home 2011. I made a file backup from a Win XP notebook tp an external drive, approximately 630 MB tib file. The backup was verified. Also, I recovered the backup to a separate directory on the Win XP machine as a recovery test.
The Win XP notebook was re-imaged by my employer to Windows 7. I reinstalled ATIH 2011 on the newly imaged machine and attempted a recovery of the backup. I am consistently getting a failure and message "Failed to add the backup to the backup list." I am very disturbed that I may have lost this backup. My faith in the Acronis product is not strong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Another option would be Try booting from the TI Recovery CD and browse to the storage location when booted from the CD.
You could also try using the Mount option.
This is a pdf discussing some of the various options in file recovery from the TI backups.

I cannot add a backup to to the backup list on windows 7 but it works perfectly on my windows 8.1 machine when I go to .... add backup ...Add to existing backup... browse and select the backup, then click add.
I hated this program on my desktop and for some reason tried it on my windows 8.1 laptop where it worked fine and assumed the bugs had been sorted. How wrong I was, so once again I am grumpy and fed up.
I don't suppose anyone can recommend an alternative now Norton Ghost is dead?
