Failed Backups due to hiberfil.sys

Thread needs solution

I've been using True Home Home Edition 2014 for sometime now.

Lately all my backups fail.  When I look into it, its due to hiberfil.sys not backing up.  If I watch the backup in process and skip the file when the error appears it will run.

I have gone into settings and under exclusions purposely excluded it but it doesn't solve the problem.    Still tries to back it up and fails the backup if I don't watch it run.

Running W10 on an i7 desktop.  Only backing up selected folders in the main partition.

Steven, I would suggest creating a new backup task and trying this again.  Hiberfil.sys, pagefile.sys & swapfile.sys should be excluded for Windows 10 systems though it is possible that ATIH 2014 doesn't exclude all of these by default as it has not been updated since Windows 10 came out.

What do your exclusions look like when you edit the existing backup task?
I would expect to see *hiberfil.sys* *pagefile.sys* where there are wildcard characters (*) added to the front & back of the file names with no added spaces and without any path names being specified.

Steven,

FYI, Acronis have not certified ATI 2014 or any other earlier versions for Windows 10.  The only certified versions are ATI 2015 and ATI 2016.  However, if it works, it works.  That said, as Windows 10 is updated in the future, ATI 2014 may become unstable or even unusable. You probably already know this, but I just wanted to make sure you are aware.

Thank you for the replies.

While *hiberfil.sys* was excluded, it was still trying to back it up.

In following instructions to create a new backup I noted that hiberfil.sys was being called out seperately as a backup default in the custom settings.  By unchecking it, that solved the issue.

Again thank you for all the info and now feel comfortable to get the latest version.
