Failed differential backups

Thread needs solution

I've been backing up with no problems for a long time now, but all of a sudden I've begun having issues. I've edited my backup settings (not really necessary, but worth a shot); I've uninstalled the application and reinstalled it.....nothing seems to work. I back up over my home network to another machine in the house, and suddenly it can't find the destination when the backup kicks off. Not really a problem if I edit my settings and re-establish the destination--it finds it fine then.....only during the actual backup operation.

If I actually sit here and hit the "backup now button", it asks me to insert the last media. I normally run a differential backup.....it'll do the first backup, but then not any of the differentials. Oh yes, to clarify, the problems above are only happening on the differentials....not the original full backup.

Some errors I'm having are as follows:

>Please insert the last media of the archive and click Retry to continue. Otherwise click Cancel to stop the operation.
>Error occurred while opening the file.
>Failed to prepare data stream. Check whether the source and target partitions exist.

I guess I could just do full backups every night, but that sure eats up a whole lot more disk space. Any suggestions on what may have happened all of a sudden would be appreciated. Getting frustrated with constant failed backups lately.

Thanks,
Bob

This may not help but have you tried using the UNC path for pointing to the store location.
