Failed to exclusively access backup
See attached log.
It looks as though I have a backup but I get the message "The last backup has failed." What's going on? What can I do to fix it?

I'm on Windows 7, fully up-to-date.
I have the latest version of Acronis.

The G drive is an external hard disc that is permanently plugged in. I use it for backups and nothing else.
I was backing up the whole of my F drive (contains all my data), a partition on my internal hard disc.
I always start backups manually after first closing all other windows. I then walk away from the machine and will only continue working on it after the backup has completed.
I don't use Outlook/LiveMail.
I do not believe that a defragger was running.

I've seen this happen when 2013/2012 holds the file open itself. Restarting the system usually corrects this issue.
Also the COM Surrogate / DCOM fix for 2013 helps with "locked" files being accessed by Acronis and being held open by COM Surrogate.

Applied fix. Rebooted. Took new backup. It completed successfully!
However, this had been an intermittent failure, the last in December, so I will keep my fingers crossed for the future.

Running Win8.1 after upgrade from Win8.0, and True Image 2013 by Acronis, and am having connection problem between external USB HDD, which Win8.1 upgrade re-assigned to drive letter H from previously G. Now Acronis fails to "exclusively accesss backup G:" after creating, when verifying on H.
Question:
I have a newer version of your fix-solution file (mentioned above) ti_managers_proxy.dll already in Acronis folder.
Should I use your older file fix over newer version?
Might you have another solution to my problem - I think it's linked with Windows disconnecting my (now) H:-labelled USB-backup drive (used to be G: before Win8.1 update)?
PS. Also attached Acronis Event Log for you.

I have a similar problem but using True Image 2014.
"can not get exclusive access...."
Seemed to work fine several months ago but when I checked recently on my weekly backups, I saw a lot of failed backups.
I have no idea what has caused the program to change from what it was doing previously.
I use an incremental backup weekly.
Win 7 (64) using an external WD Passport drive exclusively for backups.
Help ?

If you haven't already, first try a repair install of 2014.
Have you updated or installed any new software recently?
Are all the Acronis services running?

I am using True Image 2015 on Windows 7 x64/Ultimate.
During the backup job for Disk I:\ I get a failed backup error stating "Failed to exclusively access backup G:\AcronisBackup\FilenameXXX_full_b6_s1_v1.tib during consolidation. Make sure the backup file is not opened in other applications."
I'm confused because G:\ is a separate unrelated job to the I:\ backup job - they both backup some of the same files and directories, but they should be two independent jobs. I:\ does not backup to G:\
Can you please help me understand why I am getting this error?

Is this an external drive where there is a possibility a different drive letter has been allocated after plugging it in?
I think the quickest and easiest answer is to delete the two tasks that you have and either allow TI to 'find' the existing archives on opening and then activating those archives as a task or simpy just make two new tasks.
I suspect that somehow the task file might have become corrupted.

I just recently starting having this same problem. I've used three different versions and am currently running ATI 2015. As far as I know, nothing has changed on my system.
I backup using "Disks and partitions" to an external drive. The external drive is only used for backups.
I have deleted the "My backup" and all the files on the external drive. I even reformatted the external drive. Then I created a new My backup.
I've done this multiple times. Each time it appears that the backup dies during Validation.
This last time, I cleared the dialog box with the failure and the backup started again. This time I can see the full backup seems to be complete by looking at the folder on the external drive. I can also see that now, while the second backup is happening, a differential backup file is being created.
My backup is currently set to keep two versions and to create a new version after 3 or 4 differentials.
So I started writing all of that about 3 hours ago. Since then the backup failed again with the same error. Each time it restarts the backup and fails. No wonder the backup drive is filling up with so many backup copies.
Help please.

Use this GH13 as your example except change full after 2 diff to your desired full after 3 or 4.. Leave the Store 2 recent version chains to match your keep 2 versions.
If you use 3 as your diff number, your chain length will be 4 (full +3 diff) and auto deletion will occur after the next full once 8 backups have been completed. So auto deletion will occur after Full B3 has finished (after 9 backups) and then oldest chain (B1 of 4 files) will be deleted with B2 and B3 remaining. New backups will accrue and auto deletion after each new full.
If you use 4 as your diff number, your chain length will be 5 (full +4 diff) and auto deletion will occur after the next full once 10 backups have been completed. So auto deletion will occur after Full B3 has finished and then oldest chain (B1 of 5 files) will be deleted with B2 and B3 remaining. New backups will accrue and auto deletion after each new full.
Create a new task pointing to a new storage folder or sub folder. If you want no other backups, make absolutely certain that any remaining tasks are changed to non-scheduled or delete the old tasks completely.
My recommendations for the backup type is the ENTIRE PC rather than the partitions selection. The ENTIRE PC guarantees that all partitions are automatically included without the chance of a user omission on hidden non-lettered partition.

I've had this issue for quite a while with a group of backups but the data was recoverable and I thought the issue was with my NAS and how it handled Samba/Windows shares so I didn't pursue it. I recently upgraded to a shiny new QNAP box and it is still happening so I searched and found this thread. Perhaps if I describe the situation, you can help me understand.
Specs:
Source PC running Win 7/x64 with Acronis 2014 (up to date)
NAS QNAP TS-853 Pro with over 10 TB free at the moment.
Primary Drive - SSD with OS and most apps
Secondary Drive - RAID1 of Physical HDDs with cloud doc folders (Dropbox, GoogleDrive), iTunes library, and games (Steam, Origin, etc.).
The backups I have setup are:
Primary Drive Image backup to \\\backups\\images\image.....tib - runs once/month
Secondary Drive Files & Document backup of cloud docs and iTunes to \\\backups\\content\conent.....tib - runs every Wed
Secondary Drive Files & Document backup of games to \\\backups\\content\conent.....tib - runs once/month
All are setup as Incremental backups and only create incremental aver the initial full version set. My consolidation settings are:
Number of backup versions exceeds: 10
Size of backup exceeds 2000GB
My thought was this was supposed to consolidate the incrementals into when the 11th would be created or when the total size exceed ~2TB. It seems from the post above that isn't how the version parameter works.
You'll note that the backup source groups above do NOT intersect. When the two second backup jobs run, they fail during the consolidation phase but they refer to not being able to find a backup file from a *different* job (usually the image backup) and in this case, even though I deleted and recreated the jobs to point to the new NAS, they're referring to files on the old NAS.
What's the right way to configure the jobs above to work and be independent?

Grover can confirm this. The TI incremental/differential backup scheme is basically structured like this:
1 full - followed by
X number of inc/diff - followed by
X number of chains - followed by
X number of versions
Your scheme as indicated above would have 1 full followed by 4 incrementals to total 5 backups not to exceed 10 versions totaling 50 backups.
You then have another incremental once per month which occurs to another full backup totaling 2 backups.
All not to exceed 2000GB
You also have what appears to both incremental sets pointed to the same folder. That I believe is an issue. Backup tasks should point to well defined separate folders.
So either your current folder structure is causing the full backup to be corrupt as seen by the individual incremental tasks you have setup or, your total backup size over the one month time period exceeds 2000GB or possibly both are true.

Which version of TrueImage?
Frankly, I discourage any use of consolidation. In my opinion, the merging of data puts your data too much at risk. One mistake by the programmer means your data is all messed up. Consolidation has been an issue with many. I personally avoid any merging of data which also measn I avoid disk quotas. Usually, the user has a pretty good idea of their resulting backup size and can thus set their number of backups accordingoly.
I prefer to use the automatic cleanup feature whereby the program will keep the X number of newest chains and then delete the oldest chain on a rotatiing basis. Links Gh11-12-13 are examples depending upon which type backup you wish to use.
You mention 3 different type of data backups. Thus, you need need a separate backup task for each of your different type backups.
Each of your can use either of the GHG11-12-13 type backup schemes.
