Failed to exclusively access backup

Thread needs solution

My backup job was set to keep the size of the backup no more than 1300 GB. One full back up each week and six daily incremental backups. I was backing up my C: drive to an external USB 2 drive on D: I upgraded my C: drive and added an external USB 3 drive on J:

I changed the source and destination of the existing backup job in Acronis True Image to reflect the new C: drive and the new destination. After a few days it reported deleting the oldest backup on drive D: I thought that was interesting but did not think through the implications. Now that I was confident that everything was working fine I reformatted Drive D: and repurposed it.

Now I get error messages that Acronis True Image can't exclusively access the backups on drive D.

How do I delete the record of the backups on drive D: that Acronis is storing internally somewhere without deleting the backups that I have done on drive J:?

I am using True Image 2015 on Windows 7 x64/Ultimate.
